For Tolb, the genre that he feels the most comfortable attaching to his work would be “jazz rap.” J cites Mick Jenkins, Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, Isaiah Rashad, and Vince Staples as inspirations and dream collaborators. J-Tolb hopes to resonate with people who love rap music and appreciate it as an art form. After his sudden homeschooling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Huey went on a hiatus from rapping to focus all his efforts on learning production, granting him complete artistic freedom.
