Hometown: Columbus, OH
JRenee refuses to view herself as someone to be contained to one genre solely because of her sheer love and appreciation for all kinds of music. She recognizes that any opportunity to make music is a blessing, and would take the chance regardless of genre. However, when nailing down her current sound that she is working on developing, her intentions are leaning towards Gospel and R&B with just a hint of pop.
Influences & Inspirations:
JRenee credits her father for many of her musical influences because she was lucky enough to listen to the likes of Boyz II Men, Zapp & Roger, Charlie Wilson, and many more while growing up. These groups and others like Blackstreet, Mint Condition, and Musiq Soulchild are who JRenee also credits with her ‘90s-inspired song creation. When it comes to discovering and enjoying music on her own, she loves listening to more recent artists like Kierra Sheard, Tori Kelly, and Alicia Keys among a myriad of others. Ultimately, though, JRenee recognizes the massive amount of talented and hardworking artists out there, and especially credits those and others that very clearly care about their musical craft for her inspiration.
